Antique Collectible Objects

If you are interested in beginning a collection of antique collectible objects, there are many factors to consider.  First, you should decide what types of objects you enjoy collecting.  People collect any number of different types of antiques, ranging from art to cars to jewelry.  Some people even collect antique tools and tractors.  

When choosing how to begin your collection of antique collectibles, consider your interests in a general sense.  If you do not enjoy wearing or looking at jewelry, then jewelry would probably not be a good thing to begin collecting.  However, if you love old furniture, you might begin by scouring local antique stores for interesting old vanities or tables.  If you enjoy restoring furniture and have the space to do it, you might uncover a beautiful wood underneath years of awful paint jobs.

Once you decide on the antique collectibles you are looking for, there are many places to search for them.  Antique stores and festivals are the obvious choice for finding pieces, and they can be found all over the country.  Many tourist towns are overflowing with antique stores.  Garage sales are also excellent places to find antiques.  Though it takes a little more luck and a more trained eye, garage sales are prime places for finding antique dishes and furniture.  If you are lucky, you might be able to pay yard sale prices for objects that would cost many times that at a ritzy antique store.

When searching for antiques, the most important thing is to have fun.  Unless you are a professional collector, your antique collectible objects are there to bring you joy rather than income.  Enjoy your hunting, and though sales may be stressful at times, be sure not to forget why you began collecting in the first place.
